MicroD, Inc., with headquarters in Charlotte, NC, was founded by Mary and Ron Martell in 1993 to acquire the PreVue electronic product catalog business from Microdynamics, Inc., a Dallas, TX,  company that Ron founded in 1979. Developed by Microdynamics in 1988, PreVue enabled consumers to visualize custom upholstery products with different fabrics and finishes.

As adjuncts to PreVue, MicroD introduced EasyOrder configuration//costing software in 1997 and EasyPlan room planning software in 2000.  In 2001, MicroD introduced ePreVue Internet services, allowing retailers and manufacturers to display their PreVue electronic product catalogs on their websites. EasySwatch, a sample swatch maintenance software program, was introduced in 2003.

MicroD currently publishes PreVue electronic product catalogs for leading furniture companies such as Bassett, Century, Drexel Heritage, Ethan Allen, Henredon, Hickory Chair, Hooker, La-Z-Boy, Lexington, Rowe, Sherrill, Sklar Peppler and Vanguard. More than 2,000 furniture retailers and manufacturers' sales reps currently use ePreVue and PreVue.

In July 2003, MicroD merged with Exim Technologies, a leading furniture industry technology company founded by manoj and Mona Nigam in 1999.  The Internet-based exim commerce platform facilitates the exchange of business documents such as orders, order acknowledgements, ship notices and invoices between retailers and manufacturers. Leading furniture companies such as American Furniture Warehouse, Ashley, Bassett, Bernhardt, Boyles, Broyhill, Hooker, Kittle's, Stanley and Thomasville currently use Exim Commerce services to exchange more than 40,000 documents per day.

With the merger of MicroD and Exim, retailers can present their products to prospective customers using in-store computers or their websites; enable consumers to pre-shop for products; and when they are ready to buy, validate and pass orders to the retailer's business system; then transmit those orders via the Internet to the manufacturer using Exim Commerce edi services.
